You know that scene in 101 Dalmatians where puppies just keep appearing? Well, real life decided to give Disney a run for its money when a Dalmatian named Miley delivered a jaw-dropping 18 puppies in a single litter. The vet had predicted three.
Three.
Let that sink in for a second. Imagine preparing for a cozy little trio and ending up with a small army of spotted newborns instead.
Nearly Three Decades of Experience — and Still Surprised

Cecilia Langton Bunkergot isn’t new to this. She’s been breeding Dalmatians for close to 30 years through her business, CC Dalmatians, producing champion show dogs that have earned recognition far and wide.
So when she paired up a promising first-time mom named Miley — owned by Jade Martin — with a stud called Astro Wonder Boy, she knew what she was doing. Or at least she thought she did.
Throughout the pregnancy, Cecilia and Jade were careful and attentive. They kept up with regular vet visits, did everything by the book. The ultrasound showed three puppies on the way. A perfectly manageable number. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Then labor started. And it didn’t stop.
The Count Kept Climbing

Puppy after puppy arrived, and the room grew increasingly chaotic. The vets themselves couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Four. Seven. Twelve. The count just kept climbing until, after more than 13 hours of labor, 18 tiny Dalmatians had entered the world.
Cecilia described the experience to 9News:
“We got to 16 and thought she was done after 13 and a half hours of labour […] It was quite amazing she popped out another two, making it a world record and Australian record. I was flabbergasted to see so many.”
Can you blame her? Who wouldn’t be flabbergasted? A six-fold surprise isn’t something any breeder plans for, no matter how many years they’ve spent in the game.
All Jade Wanted Was One Puppy

Here’s the sweet part of the story. Jade Martin’s daughter, Lulu, just wanted a puppy. That’s it — one Dalmatian pup to call her own. Nobody expected Miley to provide 17 extras along with it.
Lulu picked out her favorite from the litter, and the remaining pups went to Cecilia’s kennel. Every single one was examined by a vet and given a clean bill of health. Eighteen healthy puppies from one mom. It’s remarkable no matter how you look at it.
Miley Deserves a Medal
Let’s talk about the real hero here. Nursing 18 puppies is no small feat. Most Dalmatian litters range from six to nine pups, so Miley was pulling double — even triple — duty. And by all accounts, she handled it like a champ.

Both Cecilia and Jade joked afterward that they wouldn’t be putting Miley through that again, even though she proved herself to be an incredible mother. Honestly? She earned a long nap and all the treats in the world after that marathon.
A Litter They’ll Never Forget
Eventually, all 18 puppies found new homes. Cecilia enjoyed her time with the spotted crew, but as she’d tell you, the chaos doesn’t last forever. What does last is the story — a world record litter that turned a routine breeding into something nobody saw coming.
It’s the kind of tale that makes you wonder: what would you do if your dog surprised you with 15 extra puppies? Because Miley didn’t just deliver a litter. She delivered a legend.
